The Application SMARTCARE health card is proposed as a development to transform the actual Medicare card in a smart card solution. The development will allow the storage of the diagnostic or clinical information in a smart card of all the Medicare beneficiaries that live in NSW or whole of Australia, if it were the case. At this time, Medicare Australia in its considerations and limitations provide only information related to claims collected and patient enrolment information like name and address of cardholder, date of birth and sex; therefore diagnostic or clinical information is not available. The SMARTCARE has the ability to speed check-in and supply some peace of mind. After all, what patient, arriving at a hospital emergency, doesn't want hospital staff to have immediate access to the correct, key medical facts -- even if the patient is not able to speak, or speaking a foreign language, or presenting an ID with a name that hundreds of other Australian share. Also, the smart card is easy to use in ambulances, doctors at home, rural and remote towns and more, using only a handheld computer or PDA to read the information.

Stockwatch is an interactive application that allows users to compose music based on the quotes from the stock exchanges worldwide. Stockwatch converts the data into music in real time and subsequently performs an analysis on that music to generate music based on that. We would like to use the opportunity that the NSW government offers to expand this application to be able to use other data for example seismic and weather data.
The purpose of this application is mainly artistic. We would like to give composers the opportunity to use different data sets to sonify and musicalise. It will offer the opportunity to hear what is going on around us in a musical way. Abstract data becomes comprehensible and attractive to hear.
This application is aimed at composers, both experienced as novices. We want this application to be easy to use, but offering advanced controls for those who want to dive deeper into the program. The software will also work on a different level, the program can serve as an ambient music tool, where the user selects initial musical parameters and let the computer generate music automatically.
The application currently uses real-time data from yahoo.finance online services that are freely available. The future application will still use online data, however not limited to yahoo's services.
Basic controls -
The upper part of the screen is assigned to the different indices that the user can select. When the user selects an index (1 mouseclick), the button's text will become yellow. After this, the user selects START TICKER, which will start the ticker in the
uppermost part of the screen and load the stocks in the computers memory.
After the ticker starts, the user can select START MUSIC to start the music.
The output of the note (the speed at which a new note will be played) can be
changed using the plus and minus buttons. The duration of the notes also can be changed using the plus minus buttons.
The volume of each channel can be changed by dragging up or down the button in the slider. As the output speed and duration of channel 3 are controlled by the channels 1 and 2, there are no controls for it. The duration of channel 4 can be changed with the plus and minus buttons.
Advanced controls -
Standard the sounds are output through the internal soundcard, however you can route the signals to other programs. To do so, doubleclick on noteout of the channel you wish to reroute and choose from MAX/MSP. Subsequently, do so in your program that you will use to receive the sounds.
Recording can be done either with an external program, then you will get the midioutput as an aiff-file or so. On the other hand you can record the output as midi messages. To do so, click on OPEN RECORDING WINDOW. A new window will open. Click on START RECORDING. When you are finished, click on STOP RECORDING and then SAVE RECORDING. A save-dialog will appear and you can assign a name to the midi file.
To route the output of the program to an external program, doubleclick on noteout channel 1 (or 2, 3 or 4). A pop-up menu will appear. Select From stockwatch 1 and subsequently do the same in your host program you will use. In this way you can manipulate the musical output of the stocks with other instruments then the quicktime sit CONTROL CHANGE is for use in external programs. If you use reason, the predefined control will manipulate the cent-control in the malstrom-synthesizer. The control number can be changed with the plus and minus buttons. Also, the mappings of each control are adjustable under the mappings buttons. If the controller has a range of 0 to 127, then click on the plus/minus button in the left box to get a 0, and in the right box to get 127.

This is an idea for a service for NSW residents to enter energy consumption details to create a picture of usage and saving of water, electricity and natural gas across the state. Sustainability - the buzzword of today's generation. Sure, we're told to conserve energy and minimise water usage, but how does MY contribution help the world, let alone my community or country? Our idea provides a service to both residents of NSW and the NSW government, allowing households to compare - or, let's just say it - COMPETE - against others in their conservation of electricity, water, and gas. Globally - we hope to see a reduction in energy, electricity, gas, and water usage. Locally - we hope households and families become more aware of how every effort they make to live more sustainability makes a huge impact to their building, their block, their suburb, their state... The key here is that with a minimum amount of data - utility usage, time period, and suburb - we can paint a clearer picture of how my whole suburb is doing in comparison to others. An interactive map on the iPhone of parking options in urban areas of NSW to help decide whether driving is an option. This is particularly useful for high traffic areas and for access to local amenities (shopping areas, libraries, parks).
This is a tool to help users track when their parking is expiring (e.g. meters, clearways) and also warn them about the potential cost of the fine.
Assists drivers in making travel decisions when considering parking availabilities.

nsw4kids is an application which brings together all the fantastic public services available for kids in NSW. It provides a tool for parents and carers (as well as schools and centres), to find activities to do with kids of all ages. The application consists of specific areas of interest such as libraries, playgrounds, museums, local council events (including festivals), public pools and playgroups and even events around the State for school holidays. New areas of interest can be added at any time. The application has advanced functionalities including advanced search and integration with electronic calendars and email.
The appliction provides all contact details for each location (including map search, or a current location search for the mobile version). It also provides event listings, the relevant age group for each event, the cost (if any), etc. All of this information is currently available if you access each individual website. The difficulty is not only the time spent researching available services, it is also knowing that there are services actually available.
The application provides a capability within each area of interest to do: a simple search by suburb, council and day of the week; and an advanced search across all of these categories. For example, you can find out what there is to do for kids in Ultimo and the search will bring up the Powerhouse Museum, Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre, Ultimo Library, Ultimo playgroup, and a number of small and larger playgrounds. If it happens to be Thursday, you can then find out that Ultimo Library has storytime for children ages 3 and up on Thursday at 11am (or if it happens to be school holidays it will let you know what events are on at the Powerhouse Museum), or if it is a Monday it will let you know that Ultimo Playgroup is on between 10 - 12.

Starting a new business involves a lot of effort and time, a lot of that time is spent in market research and knowing more about clients and the competitors.
There is currently not an easy way to identify competitors based on the business type and location; moreover, it isn't easy for new prospective business owner to know more about their potential customers.
The main aim of LMB is to help new prospective owners of businesses; which provide good and services; to identify the best location before making a final call on where to place their new venture.
By doing this, the time and efforts required to analyse the market where business owners want to set up their businesses could be reduced dramatically and make their process more effective.
LMB could serve purposes at different levels by helping prospective business owners answer questions like:
- Who would be my competitors in the area where I want to set up my new business?
- Are there people that work in my industry in this area and that I could attract as prospective employees?
- What kind of environment restrictions can you find in a specific local area?
- Transport facilities in that area (e.g how many people travel to that area by bus, train, private car, bicycle, etc.)
- What is the crime rate and types of crime that affect the area where I want to set up my business?

Bus timetables rarely give an accurate indication of actual bus arrival times, leaving commuters apprehensive about whether they have missed their bus or whether they will still arrive at their destination at an adequate time if they wait for it to turn up. This application idea will inject some certainty into the process of using public transport and will ultimately increase usage. A commuter can use their smart phone or personal computer to view the map location and estimated time of arrival of their next bus or ferry, based on its real time GPS position.
This application will provide members of the public with information on the present location and operating condition of any bus or ferry that they would like to ride and more importantly, an estimated arrival time for the bus or ferry. The application would be most useful for bus commuters, whose journey times are more likely to be affected by heavy traffic, particularly during peak hours. With this information the user could then decide whether they need to sprint to their bus stop, if they have time to conduct some other business (often going somewhere to get a coffee or a newspaper!) or alternatively find the alternative transport that will take them to their destination most rapidly. Also, with the STA introducing more prepay only services, this application will allow a commuter to decide whether to go to a ticket outlet and return in time to catch the bus or whether to simply wait for the next cash service.
The intended audience is any bus or ferry commuter with access to the internet via a smart phone or a home/office computer. A commuter would be able to search for the location and estimated time of arrival of their next bus or ferry. Professionals and other busy commuters, who are increasingly time-poor, will use this application to make the transport choices that will optimise their productivity. In some parts of Sydney, the scheduled interval between successive buses can be up to half an hour, meaning that if a bus is early or is missed unwittingly, a commuter can wait an unacceptable amount of time before the next available service. Peak hour traffic also drives unpredictable havoc with timetables and leaves commuters with the impression that public transport is an unreliable and inefficient way to travel. This application, inspired by the displays available on train station platforms, could ultimately be implemented as a permanent interactive display at all bus stops, making the service available to all commuters. Alternatively, a solution employed on the Perth train network could also be sufficient, where a simple LED sign is used to show the estimated time of arrival for the next two to three buses due to arrive at the stop. This sign could be updated as soon as the bus leaves the stop. However, a short term solution, that would reduce the cost of roll out to the state government, would be to rely on commuters to use their own phones or personal computers to utilise the service.
This application requires data relating to the real time position of all STA buses operating in Sydney. As far as I am aware, this data does not exist at present and would need to be provided by the STA. All STA buses would need to be fitted with GPS tracking units that would transmit the location of the bus back to an STA communications centre. The STA can then make this information available on their websites, such as the www.131500.com.au and www.sydneybuses.com.au transport info sites. These sites are already well known within the community. The wealth of data collected by monitoring the progress of all buses, at all times, every day of the year, would have the additional benefit of providing the STA with the statistics that will enable them to produce the most accurate timetables yet conceived. The buses will need to be fitted with the GPS tracking units and run for one to two months before the service becomes available, to allow enough data to be collected for reliable arrival time calculations.
A user would need to indicate the bus stop ID, the nearest street, station, etc., for the bus stop they would like to travel from, similar to what is already done with the 'Plan Your Trip' application on www.131500.com.au. They should then input the bus route number they intend to travel on or alternatively indicate their destination. The application would then populate a list of the next few available buses and indicate if the bus was operational/broken down or on time/delayed. Two estimated times of arrival, accurate to the nearest minute, could be provided. The first will be based on the fastest time the bus has historically travelled between its current position and the user's bus stop. The second estimate will be based on the historical average of travel times between those two points for the given bus. The estimates should be updated anywhere from instantaneously to every thirty seconds, so that a user can continue to monitor the bus service while conducting other activities. The user could also choose to see the present location of the bus, represented by a coloured circle, on a scannable map in the style of a "googlemap". This would be useful on routes which double-back on themselves or include a loop, allowing commuters to move to an alternative bus stop in order to catch a bus that they may have just missed, but were not presently in sight of.

This phone app provides a statistical overview of the State of New South Wales. It provides an insight in the various functions of government and gives the user direct access to stimulating information. In addition to the data stored on the app various online links offer access to more comprehensive information. To that end, the app provides a user interface to the information available on existing on State Government websites.
The app also includes interactive geographic information with a map of the State as the base. Layers of information; roads, railways, cities etc, can be added to the base map.
The purpose it to provide a mobile portal for users of mobile telephones to allow access to a wealth of data about NSW. The portal will provide an easy reference point for someone who is curious about high level statistical data and who wishes to be able to find contact details. A unique feature is push notifications of information to persons affected by a disaster.
All data is generally available already on NSW Government websites. The push notification data would be generated by emergency services at time of a disaster.
The app would open with a NSW map overlaid with icons representing various access points into the datasets. Those datasets would hold limited stored data and online links to a greater quantity of data on NSW Government websites.
The NSW map would initially be depicted as a outline map of NSW with limited geographic features (e.g. location of major cities and major geographic features such as rivers). The map would have multiple data overlays that could be selected by the user - the overlays would include cities, roads, railways, location of government buildings including police stations. The map would be expandable through a variety of zoom levels to allow a micro view down to street level. As an example: Google Maps has such functionality already. On tapping on a geographic feature name more detail would be available. For example: if one tapped on the name of the town of Wagga Wagga a screen would open that gave a list of facts about Wagga Wagga.
The access points into the datasets would include:
Parliament, Office of Premier, Governor, Roads, Health, Agriculture, Fisheries, Education, Finance, Emergency services.
As an example of how these access points would operate the selection of 'Emergency services' would open a screen that included a secondary set of access points for: Police, Fire, Ambulance, SES. The screens accessed on selecting these points would have base level stored information and online links. Stored information would include contact details, history, recruitment, and key statistics. The online links would be to pertinent information on the websites of each of the government bodies.
Where the app stored data such as telephone numbers the telephone numbers could be selected by the user with the mobile telephone completing the dialling process. In this way the user would not need to retype a telephone number.
The push notification function would allow a user to receive disaster relief information. This would work by giving the user the option of switching on location services so that the app could read location details then the app would push information to the user. This would be useful for instance to someone who is caught in a flood or an earthquake. It could even be used for someone stuck on a Cityrail train. The feature could also be used to alert road users to traffic accidents and delays.
The stored data and mapping function would be linked so that if a user wished, for instance, to find the nearest police station the stored data may have the address listing and selection on such an address would allow mapped information to be presented.
Many of the app functions available to users would be utilised by this App. I have been led by those Apps available on Apple's iphone). These include:
1. Touch screen (for instance, to select icons)
2. Flip screen (for instance, to change the orientation of text on the screen)
3. Drag (for instance, to change location on a map)
4. Skin (for instance, to allow the user to change background colours)
5. Sound (for instance, to allow users to hear interesting sounds such as example police sirens from the police dataset)
6. Instructions (to allow the user an understanding of how to use the app)
7. Push information feature that utilises user location (with permission) to alert the user to any event information
8. Credits (to acknowledge the developers of the project), and
9. Freely available download updates with regularity not exceeding a monthly cycle
The app would be free to download initially.
The app is scaleable in that a base app could be released with a limited number of government reference points. Such reference points could be expanded at a later time.

The NSW Consumption Map is a proposed tool to encourage households to become more sustainable by visualizing usage of finite natural resources.
Maplecroft, a UK-based research organization, ranked Australia as the #1 producer of CO2 emissions per capita in the world (Climate Change Risk Report 2009/2010). Setting aside debates of global warming, this ranking emphasis the continual need to become more efficient and sustainable in our everyday resource consumption. Although many resources are used in the household, two in particular are especially scarce, yet easily monitored and regulated: water and electricity.
The NSW Consumption Map would help juxtapose individual household consumption (or entire suburbs if privacy is an issue) against other households or suburbs. Users would be able to visualize where they stand on the bell-curve of resource usage, and provide suggestions and tips for households that consume a disproportionate amount of resources. Such tips could include common sense items such as sealing leaky taps, but also provide local resellers of water conservation supplies (e.g. more efficient shower heads), or certified insulation installers/window sealers (e.g. to reduce A/C and header usage).
The NSW Consumption Map would be useful for any household or resident of NSW.
Several datasets will be required depending on if the map is based on household or suburb measurements.

3) Electoral boundaries (if map is based on suburb). Publicly available.

I have personally attempted to acquire the second dataset, and Hon John Faulkner even claimed to write a personal email to Premier Kristina Keneally, but I haven't heard back with availability.
The NSW Consumption Map would be a simple 'slippy' map of NSW with three layers: the base layer would be topographical or physical, with electrical and water usage as overlays. The electrical and water usage overlays would vary in colour depending on resource usage (e.g. households/suburbs with heavy usage are dark blue, light usage is clear or light blue).
Future versions could include graphs depicting the history of a household/suburb's resource usage.
Implementation would be fairly straightforward, especially when using an open source GIS-stack such as PostGIS (to store the datasets), GeoDjango (to generate and project the KML overlays), OpenLayers (to visualize the map layers), and OpenStreetMap/CloudMade (to generate base tiles). I would love to have been able to submit this as an actual application, yet couldn't find the necessary datasets required.

PropertyWorth is an idea for a Mashup application that enables citizens, especially business investors and/or property sellers/buyers, to precisely estimate the feasibility of a business investment or the value of a property in a particular area in NSW. By visualizing demographic, property and business data of a selected area, application's users can make initial assessment of business viability and/or property value.
The proposed Mashup idea mainly aims at aiding Australian residents of NSW, especially those ones who would like to make a business and/or property investment, to investigate/estimate the feasibility of particular business or property value. It displays essential data about population demographic, socio-economic, available business services, property value and rental costs and social trends for a certain area/suburb on Google maps. The application is expected to serve as a tool for visualizing the proportion of available services per population size live in certain region (e.g., one pharmacy serves 200,000 residents in a selected area, one kinder garden per 120,000 families who have kids aged between 3-5 years). Furthermore, it provides comprehensive information about population demographic including average income, education, aging, sex, social/culture trends, employment figures, family sizes and many others. It also includes other information such as average rental and value of both businesses and properties. Such information will help NSW residents and investors to better estimate region's needs and the potential of opening new businesses or services or even estimate property value or rent in that area. Also, it will likely help in customizing services and/or businesses, to be started in a certain area, according to the population demographic and trends.
Users: All Australian citizens and residents and overseas investors who plan to start a new business or buy/sell a property. Investors can determine business opportunities and area needs in certain regions. Residents (Australian and non-Australian) can benefit from having adequate services and businesses that meet their needs and within the area they live in. They can also estimate the value of properties in a certain area when they want to sell/buy one at.
Local councils and/or government departments, e.g., Department of Planning & Infrastructure, can better plan and organize services and business based on the region demographic using this Mashup application. Government agencies such as Centrelink can also utilize the application to customize its services based on population demographic in particular areas

The following just a brief description about the Mashup design. The main page consists of one text box and command button. It also contains some tabs that provide a guide on how to use the application (probably text and video), APIs used, data source, license and contact details. The text box accepts a correct post code value (within NSW) or a suburb name (text value). The text box will provide an auto-suggestion based on the user input (possible suburb names or post codes as auto-completion guide). Once the enter button is hit or the command button is clicked, the suburb’s borders will be highlighted on Google map along with the key services and businesses within the area. In addition, key demographic and other information, mentioned in the data section, will be displayed on Google maps (as coloured pins) as well as to the left hand side of the map (on a separate panel). Once any of these pins is clicked, further information such as business/property address, average rent or value is displayed in a pop-up box. Check box filters will be provided on a panel to the right hand side of the map to enable navigation flexibility experience by showing/hiding the information on the map. All information, mentioned in the data section, will be also grouped and graphically represented separately using graphs and visual indicators. Such indicators will sho socio-economic trends and various demographic trends.
The application development can be achieved, but not restricted to, technologies such as Java Script, AJAX, Google map APIs, HTML, CSS and probably other public APIs.

Ever wondered what you want to do in the weekend? Ever been interested to find a new activity to experience? Or even ever been not sure where can you find appropriate places to enjoy your activity? ActivitiesNSW is here to help you to decide. It is an iPhone application that enables NSW residents and visitors to easily and quickly find appropriate venues where they can enjoy some outdoor activities. The Mashup application displays appropriate location and public facility information on Google maps based on keywords about activities entered by the user. It also suggests best activities and appropriate locations that the user can enjoy based on daily weather information. In addition, the Mashup allows the users to plan their trip to the place they select through either public transport, e.g., bus routes and train time tables, or GPS directions. It also provides some information about available services, restaurants, supermarkets, etc, around the location so the user can decide what to bring with them.
The main purpose of ActivitiesNSW is to aid NSW residents and tourists to easily and quickly find wide range of venues and public facilities where they can enjoy practicing some activities and/or visit attractions. Whether they want to enjoy practicing some sport games, go for jogging, have BBQ with family and/or friends, go for cycling, surfing, visit museums and/or art galleries or anything else similar, ActivitiesNSW will help them to do such outdoor activities. The application will serve NSW residents and visitors in (1) finding appropriate venues with suitable facilities on Google maps to do their favourite outdoor activities (2) planning their trip based on useful information displayed on Google maps such as transport data, available services within that venue, weather information and (3) deciding on what kind of best activities that can do based on ActivitiesNSW recommendations, e.g., today temperature is acceptable for Jogging from 10 am to 12 pm at continental park, BBQ after 1:00 pm at Maroubra beach, playing soccer at 4:00 pm at Maroubra park and back to home before thunderstorm starts around 6:00 pm. ActivitiesNSW will make daily recommendations based on weather information. Activities NSW is expected to increase NSW residents and visitors awareness of various outdoor activities and places that they can visit.
All Australian residents and visitors, everyone would like to perfectly spend their weekend but they need to do too many search and planning if they decided to do certain outdoor activity or gathering. Similar attractions, places, sporting facilities, leisure and many other data can be analogously considered to make the application more comprehensive and useful.The following just a brief description about the Mashup design. Once the iPhone application started, it automatically lists recommended activities and places (drop-down list) the user can go/do based on weather information and respecified default users’ preferences. The recommendations are also displayed on Google map with coloured markers where if any is clicked further information about the activity/place is popped-up on the map. A free text search box enables users to enter key words about the activities they would like to do such as jogging, cycling, golf, surfing, bush walk, etc. A drop down suggestion list will provide auto-completion feature. Another optional drop down list also provided next to the search box which provides different radius selections from the automatically detected (GPS) user location for the search. A default radius value will be used if none is selected. The resulting activities/places are then highlighted on the map using markers. The map is interactive; whenever any marker is clicked a pop-up text box will appear on the map and show brief info about the activity/place. Complete details are further shown in a text box below the map. If the user likes the highlighted place/activity, they can click on other tabs to get further information about it such as hourly weather details for the selected place, available services around it (e.g., restaurants, toilets, etc) and transport information (public buses & trains information, distance and time to get there, etc). Another interesting feature is auto-combining activities which combine several activities to do and/or places to visit within a selected area along with estimated travel times between them. Alternatively, the user can select multiple places/activities on the map and click on plan my trip button to get a plan for their trip along with various information, travel distance & time, weather info, surrounding services in the area, etc.

Dial a number and then an SMS message will tell you the time of the next train or bus coming.
You just finished work and went to the train station. Having waited for a few minutes you were told the service is cancelled and the next one would be another 15 minutes. Or you have been waiting at the bus station for over 10 minutes, you don't have a timetable with you and you never know how much longer you would have to wait. Wouldn't it be convenient if you could dial a number and then receive a message that tells you when the next bus or train is coming? If the transport authority can set up this kind of service, and the commuters can subscribe to it, or just dial a number, for example, for bus 380 dial xxx 380. The government can also generate income by providing this service!

Bullied or bully: Is a web site, like a community for bullied and bullies kids and teenagers, so they can have an alternative media to expose their bully problems in a anonymous way and obtain help from other kids affected, adults that once were victims or were bullies, or from professional people such as psychologist, social workers or law side. Along with the usual information about the matter.
To provide an alternative for bullied and bullies to find advice or solution to their problems or situation, but by feeling confident of not revealing their identities, so they are open to discuss everything about the issue for their benefit. It also helps the government to obtain more real and extensive figures and information to undertake decisions and create plans about bulling, such as: sector, gender, ages, personal situations, cultural background, preferences, etc. And it is not only from/for the bullied, but also from/for the bullies who are also people who need help and they can start by accepting they have a problem and make a path to abandon this behavior.
To give testimonials from people that in the past when younger were bullied or bully and how they overcame these situations and now as successful adults, to encourage the youth and give them confidence and self-esteem.
They could become members and have usernames and passwords in order to access the forum to tell their stories, ask for advice or help, give advice, and interact with other people within the community that is happening across similar circumstances.
Very often bullied as well as bullies don't dare to tell any one their stories because of the fear or shame of telling what they are going through.
The idea is to make it in a very attractive way that capture the attention and gain the confidence and be reliable for the kids so they feel free to share their experiences and feelings about.
Log-in by password, general information, advice, links to other web sites, Are you a bullied or a bully? (Assessment), FAQ, professional help, testimonies, games and more.
There is some information and help lines and web sites (Kids Helpline - 1800 55 1800, Bully Blocking, Kickbully, Bullying_ No way, between others) for helping to combat against bullying, but nothing more accessible, personal or interactive that is necessary to reach this kind of issue so sensitive and deep. Nevertheless, this idea does not just propose ways to help directly a population, but also to gather information in order to develop more effective programs against bullying.
As a graphic designer I imagine a beautiful, friendly, attractive and relievable web site, but I still do not have any images developed, I would love to develop the images and graphic and visual part in a project like this.

A simple application to compare the current cost of running your hot water system over time to the cost of installing a new energy efficient system and running it over time.
The government is currently offering very generous rebates for the upgrade to an energy efficient hot water system. For many people this is an area they do not understand. If they were to upgrade it is likely the small upfront cost after rebates would be quickly recouped through reduced running costs and at the same time power usage will reduce, being better for the state (reducing the load on the state's power grid), country and planet. This application would encourage many people to better understand these rebates, their energy usage and hopefully take advantage of the rebates available. Hopefully it would also promote them to look further into other areas of their power usage and look to reduce these as well.
Data required for this application would be the rebates available (easily accessible currently), power costs based on a user's area and the cost of some of the major hot water systems available.

To give everyone a day to day window on the workings of the NSW government in an easy to use form, for free.
The people of New South Wales as well as people who are interested in state politics or government transparency.
NSW hansard, votes and proceedings, nsw state register of members' interests, lobby register, electoral boundaries, aec records. Possibly NSW parliamentary video. Most of this information is publicly accessible, however the ability to republish some of it has not yet been determined.
It would be alot like http://www.openaustralia.org please see how this works at federal level. This idea would also be extended to include more connected data than the federal version and include the ability to contact state politicians directly through this service.

Energy Analyser is a web application that displays real-time energy usage from suburbs all over Australia. The data can be divided by the number of houses in each suburb so that the average usage could be worked out.
The Energy Analyser allows the general public to see the current energy usage of their suburb and compare that with other suburbs. It could turn into a competition to pitch suburbs or even streets against each other to try and use the least energy. The webite can also provide energy efficiency tips and links to 'green' products and services.
Users would be the general public...especially those who will be paying a lot more for energy as prices go up.
This data would hopefully already exist from Energy Australia's monitoring systems. It just has to be shared!
This application would be accessed via the web through a simple web 2.0 interface. The user could enter in their postcode and be shown how much energy their suburb (or even street), is using. They could then see how much other suburbs are using and how their suburb ranks.

An application or website to allow parents to quickly find sports for children to play in their area based on certain search criteria (for example, price per week).
The aim of this application is to make it easier for parents to find a sport for their child to play. The idea would be to reduce the rising rate of childhood obesity in the state. Currently with the number of sporting organisations in each community, it can be difficult to find a sport that suits both children and parents. This application or website would allow parents to easily search for sports that suits their needs (based on price, time of the sport such as weekend or week, etc). They could then discuss the sports with their children and encourage them to participate.
The application would require a central database of all sporting organisations and the key data associated with each (price, timing of sport, etc). This could be user generated where each organisation registers themselves to minimise the cost to the government.

A minimilist movie generator for photo archive, field microphone and newspaper headlines.
The project uses intuitive pattern-making to open up the State's photographic archive in simple but surprising ways.
Harvesting keywords form NSW-focussed stories on the Sydney Morning Herald website, the SLEEPLESS STATE system cross-references these keywords to the catalogue metadata of the State Library's digitised photo database. The cross-referencing is used to generate a never-ending slideshow sequence comprised of: archival images; brief texts used as captions to the images, plus; a mixed soundtrack gathered by live radio-microphone transmissions from Central Station, Circular Quay and Broken Hill Town Hall, the main street of Moree and the Tweed Heads shopping mall.
All day, every day, as the image-text-sound compositions get generated and then sequences (at a tempo that can be adjusted in whatever way curators or interactors specify), a minimilist movie gets generated. Interactors can also specify their own keywords, thereby influencing the flow of the project (censorship settings can eliminate problematic input from spammers etc).
Over time this minimilist movie explores and evokes the enigmas and treasures of NSW and of the State Library photographic database. The never-ending movie of SLEEPLESS STATE is recorded for prosperity so that over time it becomes a kind of 'dream-history' of NSW, showing the unconscious of the state bubbling up on to any web-networked screen that's ready to receive it.

A web application that will help families in NSW determine which school catchment areas they currently reside in, allowing them to make a fully informed decision about the schools available to them.
This information will be made available in an easily accessible online format utilising one of the many prevalent mapping technologies in use today.
The purpose is to;
- inform NSW families which school catchment areas they fall into in an easily accessible online format.
- assist families in choosing an area of residence based on the schools they would like their children to attend.
- reduce the time school staff and Department of Education staff spend on answering calls/emails relating to a specific schools catchment area.
The users include: families with their first child starting school in the near future; couples planning a family in the near future; first home buyers who want to consider the services available to them and their children; and home buyers, investors and realtors.
The data set required for this application would be the geographical region of all school catchment areas. This data set is not available in the public domain and may not exist in a complete form. Hence part of this application would be to provide an interface to allow school staff to populate their catchment area thus building the rquired data set.
A user would visit the site and enter a postcode, suburb, or street address and they would be presented with a map and list displaying which schools are available to this location. A user will also be able to search for a specific school and will be presented with a graphical overlay on a map displaying this school's catchment area.
