Orient Access NSW
The application virtually holds the hand of the tourists from the preparing to the storytelling after their journey. The visitors can download the app before they leave their home. When they arrive to NSW they can discover the state using a variety of audio guides navigated sightseeing tours. The application can generate a video from the route, the photos and the videos made during their discovery that can be shared with friends on social networking sites or can simply be downloaded on their PC.
purpose: Thematic Sightseeing Tours:
(include Wanderer mode)
Every city has an Orient Directory where are various themed and lengths audio guided navigation tours to choose from. The sights can be followed on a map, where the user is walking. The navigation show instructions on the screen of the phone as the user see the spots through the camera of the phone. The navigation is similar that we use in our car with arrows and instructions, but behind them the visitor can see the sights.
Audio Guided Navigation Tours:
The Orient Access NSW applications knows where the user is based on the GPS data, so it always can navigate the user to the proper spot. When the user whatch the sights through the camera, the audio guide tells him what can bee seen. The experience is similar when the people listen the tour guide on the sightseeing bus tours. The audio guide available not only in the navigated tour but in the 'Wanderer' mode too.
Points of Interest:
Beside the historic, architecture, heritage sights, restaurants, bars, cafes, clubs can be added to the tours. People can write reviews about those and can read other's reviews as well.
Sharing of the Experience:
The Orient Access NSW automatically creates a video from the pictures, videos and GPS fixed route that a user can share on social networking sites, email, etc.
The Orient Live view function shows what others did in the city. The user can decide to make the experience visible to others or not.
The main functions are available without an Internet connection:
The Orient Access application and audio guided navigation tours can be downloaded at home or in the hotel and it will be stored in the phone's memory.
users: Everybody is a potential user from tourists (business travelers to backpackers) to local people (students and parents) who has a smartphone in his hand, who are interested in the spots of the heritage, architecture, history of NSW or other points of interests or just would like to discover the place where their live. The application give a unique experience in discovering and the video creating function will encourage people (probably mostly the youth) to share their discovery in a creative ways.
In the 2nd phase of the development:
Everybody will be allowed to create routes and audio navigation and upload it to make it available to everybody (or a certain group). In this way teachers can use it to teach what they believe to be important about the localities, tour operators to create their own tours, students to entertain their mates, or anybody can build his own orienteering competition with this application. The people even do not have to attend into the competition in the same time, as the application can measure their time. And we believe the users will be more creative to find new ways to use it as we are.
usage: The user download the app and routes at home.
(Each suburb/region has thematic tours to choose from, but the aimless wandering WANDERER help function is also available.
The suburb / cities routes are in pack download, so one download provide a variety of routes, attractions and available information.
After the arrival of the user launches the application, selects the path and follows the navigation.
The user looking at the phone's screen can see which direction to go, and what sights are on that route. Meanwhile, the audio tour guide relays interesting information about the attractions, and tells where to go further.
If the user prefers to go without navigation, the WANDERER feature is also available when your mobile is not navigate, but the audio tour guide is still available.
